Islay Distillery Stars
This is a picture of the famous Ardbeg Distillery on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. If you like single malt whiskey this is the place to go. As well as the whiskey the architecture of the distillery is fascinating. The picture shows the pagoda like building and below is a cask store with a very attractive star motif which caught my eye as a patchwork quilt design motif.
Below is a picture of how to construct a quilt from my 1950s book. I love the similarities between the two stars and also the differences. It is interesting how geometrical these designs are and how they have been used in patchwork quilts. I would like to know why the distillery has this star motif and whether it is just decorative or structural.
Above is our Dillon Patchwork Quilt which uses the star motif. It is in a selection of patriotic colours with ruffles, shams and pillows. Labels: Dillon Quilt
